MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The McMinn County Sheriff says that a man is in custody after he fired several shots at McMinn County deputies.

The Sheriff's office says it happened around 8:30pm Monday, when they were called to a report of a suspect shooting at a relative, who was allegedly trying to steal a car on Highway 39 West near Riceville.

We're told Nunley then barricaded himself in a building, and after a two hour stand off, deputies were able to take him into custody.

One deputy sustained a minor leg injury during the incident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Nunley has an previous arrest history in McMinn Co. with over 10 arrests.
