MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A massive sinkhole closed a water treatment facility in Maynardville.
City officials said the sinkhole opened on February 6 above the Davis Springs water supply. Officials said the water treatment plant was immediately shut down and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) was alerted. No affected water was introduced to the city's supply.
The City of Maynardville said the city has supplemented its supply from Northeast Knox County, and there are no problems with consumption or shortages.
The city is working with their engineers and TDEC to implement the necessary steps to get the plant back online.
