South College named as top military friendly school

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- South College was named among the top ten schools in the country with the Military Friendly® School designation for 2019-2020.

“It is an honor to create programs and open doors for military members and veterans to become students at South College,” said Steve South, chancellor of South College, in a news release. “Veterans and the men and women who are serving our country as active duty military members deserve our utmost respect and gratitude, and we are honored to have them as students in our college.”

South College first earned the Military Friendly School designation in 2016. The school provides a military grant program that provides tuition benefits to veterans with honorable discharge status and active duty military, as well as their spouses. South College also provides benefits for dependents who are eligible for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits.

“We welcome the chance to offer opportunities to veterans and military members for higher education, tuition assistance, and career advancement,” South said. “Receiving Military Friendly School Top 10 status is something that we do not take for granted, and we work every day to earn and keep that designation.”
