Washington County deputies reportedly found a Sullivan County teacher passed out over his steering wheel last Friday.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, 34 year-old Anthony Forest Laek faces charges of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended or revoked license and possession of marijuana.

“He was passed out at the wheel and a passerby called it in,” Sgt. Lee Cross said. “We couldn’t get him to wake up.”

Sullivan County Director of Schools Evelyn Rafalowski says Laek, a Bluff City Middle School teacher, is suspended without pay as the district continues to gather information about the situation.

According to Sgt. Cross, Laek was taken to the hospital and then released.
