The Claiborne County Sheriff's Office said a suspect is on the run after a shooting and pursuit involving a Claiborne County deputy Wednesday.

CCSO told Local 8 News that during a high speed chase, 31-year-old David Evans fled from deputies and started shooting at the officer from his car.

The deputy connected to the chase was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Officials have started an extensive search for Evans who they say is still at large with connections to Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Evans was described as a 31-year-old white male. He was driving a black Kia Amanti 4-door sedan with the Kentucky registration 715-RLM at the time of the chase.

According to Detective Tim Shrout, Evans is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Evans is urged to call 911.
