One dead in Tennessee officer-involved shooting

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) --- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released preliminary information about an officer involved shooting on Saturday morning.

According to TBI, the shooting occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Friday.

Police reported that deputies with the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a residence on Honeysuckle Cove in Dyersburg, after receiving a complaint of a domestic disturbance at that location.

DCSO says when deputies arrived at the scene, they could see a man through the window inside the home, carrying a long gun. A deputy approached the door after hearing gunshots, and the man then pointed his gun at the officer, which led to the officer firing his weapon and killing the man.

According to the release the man died at the scene. No officers were injured during this incident

The identity of the man and the officer have not been released at this time.

This is still an active and ongoing investigation by TBI and the District At-tourney General.
