Tennessee #1 for fighting human trafficking

Tennessee is ranked first in the country for its counter human trafficking legislation, according to Shared Hope International.

Knoxville based

announced its 8-year-long participation fighting for aggressive laws to hold sex traffickers accountable and provide services to victims.

A spokesperson with CCAHT said the organization has worked collectively with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Anti-Slavery Alliance and countless other groups to establish a statewide response to human trafficking.

The CCAHT launched upper East Tennessee's first safe house for female survivors, but leaders of the organization said there is still much more to accomplish.
