KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Rain showers on and off will continue tonight with isolated storms. Gusty winds will continue as well, especially in the Smokies where High Wind Warnings have been issued for gusts to 65 mph above 3,500 feet until 5 AM Sunday.
Keeping your umbrella and your WVLT Weather App close by will be helpful.
Winds should pick up on Saturday evening with potential gusts 30 to 40 mph.
With our WVLT Weather Alert in place between now and early Sunday morning, look for another 0.25 to 0.75 inches of rain with locally higher amounts.
This additional rain could make formerly flooded areas in East Tennessee much worse. It is always a good reminder if you see standing water, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown!”
Rain is finally gone by the time most of you wake up on Sunday (6:00 a.m. for the departure into the NC mountains).
There's great news: the weather turns a lot more comfy - and sunny - from Sunday afternoon all the way through Wednesday. You'll find us out at the dog parks, right along with you!
