NEW YORK (WVLT) -- Since 1885, The Statue of Liberty has shined as beacon on the in New York City.
Soon, a museum to Lady Liberty will open near the statue site that will tell the more than a century old history of one of the United States' most recognizable symbols.
Currently under construction is a 26,000-square-foot museum that will replace a small exhibition space located in the statue's pedestal.
A release from EarthCam.net states "the unique design features a glass roof that seemingly blends in with the surrounding landscape and offers incredible views of America's Great Lady and the New York Harbor."
The museum will house the statue's original torch, which was replaced during major renovations during the 1980s.
