Therapy dog eases grief at Tennessee funeral home
"People are scared when they walk into a funeral home," said Mandi Marlin, the director of Nashville-area funeral home Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.
To ease that fear and help people deal with grief, the Williamson Memorial Funeral Home has added a special team member named "Mac." Mac is a 15-month-old Sheepadoodle that always seems to know what to do,
Mac "breaks the tension," Marlin said. She said having a therapy dog on-hand is becoming popular for funeral homes.
"I did a lot of research, reached out to some people, and it turns out people across the United States are doing therapy dogs in funeral homes," she said.
Mac goes to work every day, visits graveyards, walks through visitations and offers free hugs.
