CPD: One teen still on the run after 3 escape from Roane facility
Three teenagers allegedly escaped a Roane-area facility, stole a car from Roane County and took off. One is still on the run, and authorities believe he may be in Nashville.
The Department of Children's Services said the teens ran away from The Center for Success & Independence operated by Youth Opportunities Investments on June 25.
Two are in custody, but Cookeville police said 17-year-old Kendontez La Danus Woodland Murray is still on the run. Officers arrested two of the teens around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning in Cookeville, but Murray got away. They said a car was stolen around 3:30 a.m. and suspect it was Murray, but he crashed the vehicle and ran off on foot.
Around 4 a.m., a white 2008 PT Cruiser was reported stolen in Cookeville, police said by Murray. Police said on Monday, July 2, the car was recovered in Nashville after being involved in a crash there as well.
Murray is described as 5'10", 175 pounds and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue shorts. Officers said he may be armed with a handgun.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Cookeville Police Department at 931-526-2125.
