CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Officials at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office say two deputies are on administrative leave today while being investigated for potential excessive force during a traffic stop Wednesday.

In a news conference, District Attorney Neal Pinkston said he has seen the dash camera video and described it as "disturbing."

Pinkston says he has called the TBI, the FBI and Governor Bills Lee's legal counsel to determine if their actions were criminal.

Members of the NAACP attended the news conference and questioned if race was involved. The NAACP says racial issues have become a trend in Hamilton County and asked for a change in training.

Pinkston says the dash cam video will be released Friday afternoon.

The NAACP confirmed the suspect involved in the case is a black male, James Mitchell, 41.

According to reports from the HCSO, Mitchell was arrested on charges of the resale of drugs, possession of controlled substance, possession on drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest.

This is a developing story. More updates to come
