Third suspect arrested in double murder of Knoxville brothers

Knoxville police said a third suspect was arrested in connection to a shooting that killed two brothers inside a residence at the Rocky Top Apartments during a robbery on Dec. 29.

Friday morning, KPD officials said a 16-year-old was taken into custody in connection to the shooting. The 16-year-old boy was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of, especially aggravated robbery.

James Allen, 33 and a 17-year-old boy were interviewed by KPD's Violent Crimes Unit Investigators and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of especially aggravated robbery and evading arrest on Dec. 30.

Police said they received calls of a shooting around 5:40 p.m. at the apartments on the 4000 block of Bedrock Way. According to reports, the caller said the suspects fled the apartment following the shooting. Police said the caller also gave a description of the suspects.

KPD officers said when they arrived on the scene they found Joshua Haley, 19, and Christian Haley, 20. The brothers were both pronounced dead from gunshot wounds, KPD said.

Police located the suspects in the area of Interstate 640 and Old Broadway. After a brief foot chase, police said they caught the suspects.

Both suspects admitted to being at the crime scene and robbing the victims with guns in an attempt to get marijuana.

Investigators said the motive and circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
