UT Office of Diversity and Inclusion tops wasteful spending list
The UT Office for Diversity and Inclusion earned the "Pork of the Year" award after hundreds of people voted on a list provided by the Beacon Center of Tennessee.
The report said that state and local leaders "squandered $480 million of taxpayers' hard-earned money this past year."
The UT Office for Diversity was voted on after a year of controversy over its article on gender pronouns and holiday parties.
Another example mentioned in the report include $200,000 to Zoo Knoxville.
"The Knoxville area seems to have a serious problem when it comes to fraud and abuse," said Beacon CEO Justin Owen. "Whether it is flushing thousands of taxpayer dollars down the drain so government officials can fund their vices or spending a whopping $200,000 on Zoo Knoxville, politicians sure knows how to waste the money of hard working taxpayers."
