Coach Rick Barnes and the highly ranked Vols are kicking off the 2018-19 season!
The Vols will look to defend their SEC regular season crown and live up to their lofty expectations.
The 2017-18 season ended on a low note after a second round loss in the NCAA tournament to eventual Final Four team Loyola Chicago. But Tennessee is stocked with experienced upper classman and are expected to surpass last season's success.
Barnes said a goal for the offseason is to make some players uncomfortable, and make sure every player knows they could start or play at any moment.
"The competition is what we're looking for everyday in practice, and we're pretty much getting that," Barnes said.
Barnes specifically referenced losing Kyle Alexander ahead of the NCAA Tournament last season, and how the team struggled against Loyola Chicago.
"When something happens, we want to know who's going to be the next guy," Barnes said.
Barnes stressed building on last season's success, but not losing what made the team a three seed in the tournament.
"I promise you, we have not changed our approach."
