University of Tennessee president to present State of the University address
University of Tennessee President Joe DiPietro will present his second State of the University annual address in Nashville on Tuesday, February 21.
The address will last for one hour, beginning at 3 p.m. Central Time, 4 p.m. Eastern. The address will be broadcast on a live webcast from the Nashville Public Library.
A statement from the university detailed the address's mission to provide a comprehensive assessment of the university's recent achievements, challenges and positions on significant issues faced by the school. The program was also scheduled to feature the presentation of the President's Awards to four employees who made exceptional contributions towards the fulfillment of the university's mission. Awards will be given to one winner in each of the three mission areas of education, research and outreach, as well as to one person who supports those mission. Candidates for the awards were selected from the entire statewide University of Tennessee workforce.
"The University of Tennessee is an economic engine and critical driver of quality in life in Tennessee, so our progress reflects and influences the state's progress in multiple areas," DiPietro said in a statement. "Those within the UT community and beyond deserve to hear where we are, where we're going, and how they can be involved in moving UT forward."
