Pellissippi welcoming students after Virginia College announces closures

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Education Corporation of America announced that multiple campuses were set to close, including Virginia College's campus in Knoxville.

According to ECA's website, Brightwood College, Brightwood Career Institue, Ecotech Institute, Golf Academy and Virginia College announced that operations would be discontinued this December.

Pellissippi State Community College announced it was reaching out to help displaced students.

"We understand this can feel like an insurmountable setback to Virginia College students, and we invite them to contact us to see if one of our career programs or transfer programs are right for them," said Leigh Anne Touzeau, assistant vice president for Enrollment Services.

ECA announced that students will be able to gain access to transcripts, recommendations on where to transfer, contact lists and general questions and answers.
