KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Rick Barnes and his basketball Vols get it done once again. Tennessee defeats South Carolina for the second time this season improving it's overall record to 23-1 and 11-0 in the Southeastern Conference play. The 85-73 victory runs Tennessee's record win streak to 19 games. The Vols have also won 23 straight games dating back to last season.
South Carolina would jump out to an early lead, but Tennessee would take control and build an 18 point advantage. The Vols also had 12 assists to Carolina's three in the first half as well as six blocked shots, but the Gamecocks were 7 of 10 from beyond the arc before the break keeping the game within striking distance at 49-36 at the half.
Admiral Schofield, who had 24 points in the two teams previous meeting in Columbia finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Bowden added a big 16 for the Vols, who shot nearly 50 % from the field.
The win marks the first time the Vols have ever started SEC play 11-0.
It also makes the Vols 8-1 all-time as the AP's top-ranked team and
