KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- WVLT-TV announced Friday that Heather Haley has been named Chief Meteorologist of its CBS, CW and MyNetwork network-affiliated television stations and digital platforms and products in Knoxville, Tenn.
Haley is a seasoned meteorologist with 13 years of experience. She has been part of the WVLT team for 10 years, having arrived in 2008 after beginning her career with a two-year tenure at WVLT’s sister station, WYMT, in Hazard, Ky. A Knoxville native, Haley is a graduate of Farragut High School and the University of Tennessee.
“I am thrilled to see Heather move into this new role and am excited for our viewers to be able to continue to trust WVLT for their weather,” said WVLT General Manager Jasmine Hardin. “Growing up in East Tennessee and now having a family of her own here, she knows the history of our area and loves it as much as anyone I know. She takes great pride in both her work and her responsibility to keep our viewers safe and well informed.”
Haley said she has a deep appreciation for the history of weather forecasting in Knoxville and is excited about the opportunity to serve as chief meteorologist.
“From the beginning of my career, I've aspired to be as personable and approachable as Margie Ison, a long-time weathercaster who I avidly watched growing up here,” Haley said. “Going forward in my new role, I plan to continue my dedication to visiting schools all across our area and encouraging students to explore the subjects that fascinate them, just like science and weather always did for me. Thank you to everyone in East Tennessee who has welcomed me into their homes for more than 10 years. Here’s to many more as your chief meteorologist!"
