Small chance for rain Monday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - WHAT TO EXPECT

WVLT Weather Vol Kevin Noble got a great picture of the sunrise Sunday morning.

For those of you planning outside plans this evening, it is warm mostly clear. Tonight we'll look for a mix of clouds and stars, staying warm in the 70's until after midnight.

We'll wake up on Monday and have a calm cool start to the day at the bus stop. Those of you along the plateau will need a rain jacket on your way home from school Monday afternoon. Overall spotty rain chances are with us in the afternoon Monday, but only about a tenth of an inch of rain at best. Temperatures will stay between 80 and 85.

LOOKING AHEAD

Tuesday and Wednesday we're back to sunny skies and no rain. We are going to start creeping back into the upper 80's and low 90's as a warming trend gets underway.

We get into record breaking heat Thursday through the start of next week. We should tie the record high of 89 on Thursday, but Friday Knoxville has a record of 90 in 1998 and forecasting 94 for the high. Our average high for this time of the year is 78.

By the start of your weekend, I see temperatures back into the mid 90's and lots of sunny skies to go around. Saturday and Sunday we'll be around 95 degrees.
