KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Here for your weekly dose of geek news, we are the WVLT Geeks.

“Pokemon: Detective Pikachu” premiered in theatres this weekend, and while it came close, it didn't dethrone “Avengers: Endgame” as the king of the box office. However, it was still able to bring in $54.3 million, making it a successful box office debut.

As you may know, the Russo Brothers have lifted the spoiler ban off of 'Avengers: Endgame', in order to release the trailer for the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Spider-man: Far from Home”. Now they have officially added the trailer to the end of the newest Avengers film, treating fans to the trailer and making it the official post credits scene to Endgame.

Disney dropped the trailer for "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil". It follows the first movie and explores the complex relationship between the horned fairy and Princess Aurora as they struggle to protect the Moors and the magical creatures that lie within. The film is set to release in October of this year.

The end is near for 'Game of Thrones'. A new trailer teases the show's final episode – but the ominous clip doesn't give too many clues about how it will all end. The final episode of 'Game of Thrones' airs Sunday on HBO and a 2-hour documentary about the making of the final season premieres later this month.

Thursday, we will bid a fond farewell to Sheldon, Penny, Leonard & the rest of the gang on the Big Bang Theory after 12 incredible seasons and 279 episodes. You can catch the 1-hour season finale May 16 from 8-9.
