KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) — West Town Mall was evacuated Friday morning due to a fire in the food court, officials said.

According to the Knoxville Fire Department, they received multiple 911 calls about smoke in the mall.

Sprinklers that activated were able to mostly douse the flames. When firefighters arrived the flames were under control.

It's unclear exactly where the fire started or what caused it.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Anchor stores and Regal Cinema were given permission by the Fire Marshall to reopen just before 1 p.m.

The rest of the mall was expected to remain closed for a short period that continued into Friday afternoon.

There has been no word from mall officials about when things will return to business as usual or whether any restaurants will remail closed due to the fire.
