Rural Metro: 'White substance' was packing material

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Rural Metro responded to a report at a West Knoxville law office after a package containing a white powder was delivered.

At around 3:15 p.m., Rural Metro announced that the white powder was packing material.

"Turned out to be packaging material for a computer part shipped from Peru," Rural Metro spokesperson Jeff Bagwell said.

Hazmat crews were on site at Underwood Law Offices on Executive Park Drive to investigate. Bagwell said officials cleared the building and shutdown the HVAC unit.

KCSO dogs cleared the area for explosives.

"Turned out to be nothing," Bagwell said.
