Caramel Fudge Squares Friday, August 11, 2017


1 stick butter
2 cups each, brown sugar and flour
2 eggs
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 cup flaked coconut
2 tsp vanilla
2 squares, unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled


Melt the butter and sugar and allow to cool. Beat in the eggs, mix flour, baking powder and salt and stir in. Add the vanilla and coconut and mix thoroughly. Pour about ¾ of the batter into a greased 9x13” pan and spread evenly. Blend melted chocolate into the remaining batter and spoon over the caramel mixture in a pleasing pattern. Bake at 350 deg for 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overbake. Cut into squares while still warm.
