KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Tennessee football has added a talented player to it's 2021 signing class and they didn't have to go very far to find him... running back Elijah Howard, a speedster, formerly out of Webb school here in Knoxville, says he wants to be a vol. Howard has transferred to Baylor High in Chattanooga and is being recruited by Tennessee primarily as a defensive back.
Tennessee was the first school to extend Howard a scholarship, and Jeremy Pruitt’s staff has continued to aggressively recruit the in-state prospect. While contact is minimal for under underclassman, Howard has visited the Vols three times already this spring.
Howard told our partners at Volquest.com that he has developed a good relationship with new UT defensive Coordinator Derrick Ansley and of course it doesn't hurt that coaching defensive backs is head coach Jeremy Pruitt's forte. Howard told Volquest the new coaching staff treats him like family and it always feels like home when he comes in.
