An epic finish, a near upset of an undefeated team, and some huge blowouts are the biggest stories coming out of week 7 of the high school football season in East Tennessee.
- Bearden 33 Dobyns Bennett 30
This was a win for the ages for the Bulldogs.
Traveling all the way to Kingsport, Bearden struggled from the start against the Indians, falling behind 24-7.
But the Bulldogs came roaring back in the second half, scoring the go ahead touchdown with just 8 seconds left to seal the win.
- Farragut 23 Science Hill 21
Joining Bearden in the Tri-cities was its arch rival Farragut traveling to Johnson City to face the struggling Hilltoppers at Steve Spurrier Field.
The Admirals led through the first half and well into the second half be as much as 20-7.
However, Science Hill scored two unanswered touchdowns to take the lead 21-20 in fourth quarter.
But Farragut secured the win and kept its perfect season in tact with a 24-yard field from Daniel Bethel with just over a minute to play. When Science Hill tried to push a late drive, Wyatt Lucas intercepted a deflected pass to move the Admirals to 7-0.
- Austin East 52 Scott 0
The Roadrunners didn't disappoint the massive crowd celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Austin East High School with a dominating shutout win over district foe Scott.
- Alcoa 63 Northview Academy 0
Like Austin East, Alcoa celebrated its history Friday night by wearing jerseys to commemorate Hall High School, the all-black high school in the community that closed 50 years ago.
And like Austin East, the Tornadoes didn't disappoint with an impressive nine touchdown shutout performance.
- West 13 Clinton 7
The Rebels were held scoreless for all but one minute of their match-up with the Dragons, Friday night.
But after West tied Clinton at 7 with 1:01 to go in the game and forced overtime, West running back Isaiah Mattress took control in OT and scored the walk off touchdown for the Rebels to improve to 3-4 on the season.
