BARNES: NCAA's timeout rule is 'bad'

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- "We have a really bad rule in college basketball where coaches can't call timeouts in that situation."

Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes wanted to call a timeout, as Tennessee brought the ball down the floor with under 10 seconds left in overtime against LSU; but coaches aren't allowed to call timeouts from the sideline during live game action.

The game was tied at the time.

Tennessee's Lamonte Turner ended up missing a shot, which LSU rebounded.

A foul on Tennessee's Grant Williams then put LSU at the free throw line with less than a second remaining.

Both free throws dropped, effectively winning the game for the Tigers.
