Bearden coach: "We wanna be back in Murfreesboro"

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Win or lose, the Bearden Bulldogs and Oak Ridge will both advance to sectionals after tonight's game; however, the team that wins will be able to call themselves 2-AAA regional champs.

The Bulldogs face Oak Ridge after their 55-43 win against the Maryville Rebels, where Bearden's Ques Glover had a statement making slam dunk.

Bearden's coach Jeremy Parrott dropped by to speak with WVLT News' Mark Packer to talk about the situation before the game.

"Peaking at the right time?" Packer asked.

"Yeah, we're playing really well right now. I think some of that's just due to the fact that we're getting healthy. We faced a lot of injuries early, and that kind of worked on our chemistry a little bit, but things are coming together at a good time."

While tonight's game against Oak Ridge is, in a way, a barometer test of where Bearden is at, they will move on regardless.

"That's the beauty of post-season basketball," Parrott said. "You can get to certain levels where a loss doesn't hurt you, and this is one of those."

"Oak Ridge, a worthy opponent, a tradition-rich program. We're just happy to still be playing," he continued.

The Bulldogs will face Oak Ridge tonight at 7 p.m. at Oak Ridge.

"We wanna be back in Murfreesboro," Parrott said.
