KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- It was a big Tuesday night for the Vols, but it was also
a big Tuesday on the high school hardwood with two of the top teams
in the State, #2 Maryville and #4 Bearden battling at the Dawg-House. And it would be the home standing Bulldogs takign the drivers seat for the district crown with a convincing 72-49 win.
The Dogs improve to 22-5 overall and 14-1 in district play. It's only the second loss for the Red Rebels who are also 14-1 in the district, but it was Bearden winning the preseason draw in case of a tiebreaker.
Ques Glover led the Bulldogs with 20 points, while teammate Trent Stephney added 15. Future Vol Drew Pember would add 13 big points for Bearden. By the way, before the game, Seniors Glover and Stephney were honored with a commemorative basketball basketball game before the game.
Bearden plays at rival Farragut on Friday night while the Rebels take on Hardin valley in Maryville.
