Butch Jones interested in Maryland coaching job

A former Tennessee coach is interested in taking the now vacant head coaching job at Maryland.

University of Maryland's Rivals affiliate says Jones is interested in the coaching job after university president Wallace Loh fired Durkin one day after reinstating him to his head coaching position.

Durkin spent the season on paid leave and embroiled in scandal after a player, Jordan McNair, collapsed and died during off season workouts over the summer.

Durkin was also accused of creating a hostile environment within the Maryland program.

Jones is currently working as an offensive analyst at Alabama.
