KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Farragut grad Nick Senzel, now the lead-off hitter for the Cincinnati Reds, has hit three home runs in four major league baseball games, including two on Monday.
"When he was really young, he was kind of small, but then he grew a ton," said Farragut baseball coach Matt Buckner.
Buckner is not surprised that Senzel is taking advantage of his opportunity in the big leagues.
"I've always felt like he had the ability to black everything else out and just play. That's a really good trait," said Buckner.
Senzel's success in the majors comes on the heels of some tough breaks with injuries.
"I thought eventually, things would work out, he'd make it, and it would be okay," said Buckner.
Things are certainly going okay for Senzel now -- that's an understatement.
Senzel and the Reds are back in action Tuesday night against the Oakland A's.
