KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Four Tennessee athletic programs were recognized for academic excellence with the Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for a second consecutive year.
Teams receive the distinction by scoring in the top 10 percent of of the student athletes' Division 1 peers in the most recent Academic Progress Rates (APR).
Tennessee's honorees were men's cross country, women's golf, women's tennis and women's track & field. Each team posted perfect multi-year APR scores of 1,000.
This marks the 10th consecutive year that Tennessee's women's tennis program has earned the award, and the women's golf team has earned the award seven of the last 11 years.
The women's track & field program has earned the award for each of the last four years, while men's cross country and women's golf are receiving the honor for the third straight year.
