KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The Celtics introduced their four newest players at the Auerbach Center in Boston on Monday.
Among them former Vol and two time SEC Player of the Year Grant Williams who started a group text between the four rookies who include Romeo Langford, Carson Edwards and Tremont Waters from LSU. We're told it eventually turned into a FaceTime chat as the players discussed the most important part of Monday’s introduction: What they were going to wear!
Grant, by the way, will wear the number 40 to start out with during Boston's Summer league play. That could change come next season.
When asked what he'll be bringing to Boston answered, “Whatever it takes for us to hang the next banner here,” said Williams. “Because I’m the type of team player that it doesn’t matter what you need me to do. However I need to make an impact, whatever you ask me or whatever coach Stevens needs, that’s what I do.”
Williams also talked about him being a big nerd and his love for the game Catan. Fellow rookie Carson Edwards, whose Purdue Boilermakers knocked Tennessee out of the NCAA Tournament, talked about his love of competition — mainly, board games –, does. Edwards said that Williams asked him if he wanted to do some gaming Sunday night after they arrived in Boston.
“And I’m like, ‘Dude, I just got here.’ He’s like, ‘I play board games too,'” Edwards relayed.
