Vol Twitter did the thing again.
Grant Williams won NCAA March Madness' Preseason Player of the Year vote Friday.
Voting took place on the March Madness Twitter and Instagram accounts starting Oct. 15. Fans chose from a bracket of 16 players, which started with eight "head-to-head" match-ups between players.
The final round pitted Williams against Indiana's Juwan Morgan. Williams, the reigning SEC Player of the Year, won 57 percent of the vote to Morgan's 43 percent.
Is this surprising? No, not really. This victory comes courtesy of a fan base that galvanized Vol faithful on Schiano Sunday; sold out Thompson-Boling Arena in the Vols' SEC regular season championship run a season ago; and gave current UT tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson more than 20,000 followers overnight to convince him to come to Rocky Top.
Williams, a junior, averaged 15.2 points and six rebounds a season ago.

By the way, the Vols will host Tusculum for an exhibition game on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
The regular season tips off Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Thompson-Boling Arena, when Tennessee plays Lenoir-Rhyne (Rick Barnes' alma mater) at 7 p.m. SEC Network will carry the game for TV.
