As we move closer to the postseason, two East Tennessee teams separated themselves further from the rest.
-- Farragut 42 Dobyns Bennett 21
The Admirals move to 8-0 for the season for the first time since 1978 with a dominant victory over the Tribe.
Farragut jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Admirals will now look to arch rival Bearden before closing out the season with a bye week and Hardin Valley.
-- Austin East 32 Gatlinburg Pittman 21
This one went down to the wire between two teams looking to unseat Alcoa for the top spot in the district.
After multiple lead changes, Austin East's defense held strong against a tough Gatlinburg Pittman team that came into the game with just one loss on the season.
With one of its biggest challengers behind them, the Roadrunners can now look ahead to back-to-back winable games against Pigeon Forge and Northview Academy before their game of the season, Alcoa.
Powell 36 West 21
There was some concern things might get out of hand on the field or the stands after TSSAA levied penalties against the Panthers that took all their wins this season, but the only unrest at West High School was Powell's double digit win.
Powell jumped out to an early lead in the first half, but the Rebels cut their deficit to just one score before the Panthers pulled away to close out the game.
Powell will now prepare to salvage its season with tough games against Oak Ridge and South Doyle.
Greenback 49 Coalfield 0
This one was never in doubt.
With new running back Jalen McCord after his transfer from Alcoa, the Cherokees cruised in a blowout victory over rival Coalfield to move to 7-0 for the season.
Greenback is putting together a remarkable season, winning every game so far by double digits and averaging over 47 points per game.
The unbeaten Cherokees will finish out the season against Harriman, Midway, and Oakdale.
