Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Mixed results from the high school football State Semifinals on Friday night.

In Class-6A, it was Oakland racing out to a 17-0 halftime lead and then picking up right where it left off after the break on the way to a 38-0 win over Maryville denying the Red Rebels a return to Cookeville.

In Class-5A it was Bryson Rosser's Central Bobcats taking it to Catholic early at the home of the Irish. Central would build a 24-7 lead and watched the Fighting Irish rally late, but that rally would fall shot as Central denies Catholic a return trip to state. The Bobcats, who have now won 12 straight after starting the season 0-2, are playing for the title for the second time in three years. Central lost to Memphis east in the 4-A title game back in 2016. The Bobcats will play Henry County next Saturday at 8pm ET.

In Class-4A it was Greeneville rolling past Maplewood 43-8. Mr. Football candidate Cade Ballard and the Devils will play for their second straight title next Thursday. Greeneville will face the Haywood Tomcats next Thursday at 4pm ET.

In Class-3A it was Alcoa traveling to Baxter, Tennessee and defeating Upperman 27-14. The Tornadoes will play for a third straight title against the Covington Charges on Saturday December 1st at 4pm ET.

And in Class-1A, it was Whitwell denying Greenback a trip to the state championship game by kicking a late field goal to beat the Cherokees 24-21.
