Ice Bears drop playoff series opener at Huntsville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)— The Knoxville Ice Bears are on to the Semifinals of the SPHL Playoffs, which began Thursday night in Huntsville. It's a best of three series against the Havoc.

Game one in Alabama would see the Havoc score first in the second, but the Ice Bears would answer with two goals of their own in that period to take a 2-1 lead. The home team would then tally in the third to tie it at two and that's how the game would end in regulation.

The game would go to overtime where it would be Huntsville getting the game winner at the 7:24 mark of that extra period. 3-2 would be your final as the Havoc take a 1-0 series lead.

Hockey fans, that means it's a must win Game-2 for the Bears here in Knoxville on Saturday night. Opening face-off at the Civic Coliseum is set for 7:35 pm. UT head basketball coach Rick Barnes will drop the ceremonial first puck prior to Saturday night's playoff game.
