The 2019 regular season wraps up this weekend for the Lady Vols Softball team as they welcome Texas A&M to Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
#9 Lady Vols are coming off a series loss at #17/18 Ole Miss in Oxford. The team is looking for an athletically sound weekend on the diamond to carry momentum into a stacked SEC Tournament, next Monday.
“If we’re successful this weekend we can definitely move up into the top four” Co-Head Coach Ralph Weekly said. “They (Texas A&M) have a shot of moving up a spot or two so it’s going to be a tough weekend for us but it's one that we like.It will be a good weekend that will propel us into the postseason”
Junior Cailin Hannon was named SEC player of the week after a .786 batting average against Ole Miss last weekend. The first Lady Vols player to receive this honor since 2017.
“I was proud of my process at the plate” she explained. “I didn’t let going 6-6 at the plate the first two days get to me. Having a good mental approach at the plate, seeing the ball, hitting the ball. It was all good”
If the Vols are successful this weekend handling the Lady Aggies, they would qualify to host a regional in Knoxville. Top 4 teams in the SEC qualify to host a regional at home.
First pitch against Texas A&M is 6:00 P.M. on the SEC Network
