KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- No. 9 Tennessee held on in extras to beat No. 17/18 Ole Miss, 2-1, in the series finale at Ole Miss Softball Complex on Sunday.

Offensively, five Lady Vols recorded hits in the outing while junior Cailin Hannon once again recorded a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4. Fellow juniors Jenna Holcomb and Treasuary Poindexter scored both of Tennessee's runs.

Senior Matty Moss pitched a complete, 9.0 inning game to earn her 11th win of the season. The Greeneville, S.C., native allowed just one run on four hits while striking out three Rebels.

Ole Miss put runners on in the first and second frames, but Gracie Osbron gunned both would-be base stealers down as she fired two rockets to Savannah Huffstetler to end the threats.

In the fourth, the Rebels broke the 0-0 stalemate as they plated their lone run of the game on two hits. Abbey Latham led off with a double, moved to third on a flyout to right field and then scored on Gabby Alvarez's single to right.

Tennessee saw runners reach base in the second, third and fourth frames, but it wasn't until the sixth that the Lady Vols got on the board. Holcomb led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a 6-3 groundout by Aubrey Leach. She then took third on Amanda Ayala's single before tagging up on Chelsea Seggern's sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1.

Attempting a rally in the sixth, Ole Miss loaded the bases with two outs. The three, four and five hitters all reached base on free passes, two walks and a hit-by-pitch, before Leach threw to Seggern at third for the final out.

In the seventh, both teams were held scoreless to send the game into extras despite Hannon reaching on a double in the top of the frame for UT.

The eighth was uneventful as Moss and the Rebels' Molly Jacobsen retired their respective sides in order to send the game to the ninth inning.

Seggern got things started for the Lady Vols with a single up the middle in the final stanza. Poindexter was then brought in to pinch run and put on the jets to make it to third on Hannon's one-bagger to left field. In the next at-bat, Osbron hit a ball at Ole Miss' second baseman that resulted in a fielding error, allowing Poindexter to easily score the go-ahead run.

The Rebels refused to go down quietly as Alvarez led off the bottom of the ninth with a single through the left side. She then made her way to third on a sacrifice bunt and wild pitch, respectively, before Huffstetler caught the pop-up at second to seal the Lady Vols' 2-1 victory.

EXTRA, EXTRA: Sunday's game marked the first extra-inning contest of the season for Tennessee and the first since the Athens Super Regional in 2018. The Orange and White's last nine-inning game came against Auburn on May 9, 2015, during the SEC Tournament that year. UT is now 10-6 in nine-inning contests and 44-44-1 all-time in extra-inning games.

ON DECK: The Lady Vols close out regular-season conference play at home next weekend against Texas A&M. Saturday, May 4, will be UT's Senior Day.
