Panthers power past Cougars late on Rivalry Thursday Football

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The calendar may tell you the playoffs start in the first week of November but for Powell and Campbell County the playoffs literally began Thursday night with this big Region-3 match-up.

In a region with Oak Ridge, Fulton and West somebody's gonna miss the playoffs, but it's not gonna be Powell. The Panthers got on the board first with a short TD pass from Walker Trusley to Coby Wheeler, 7-0 Panthers.

But the Cougars would answer on the ensuing kickoff, as Christian Shouse scoops it up, heads to the far side, cuts back to the inside and is gone to tie the game at seven.

The panthers would score right before the half as Trusley keeps it himself and dives in for the touchdown. It was 14-7 home team at the break.

This thing was tied at 21 in the 4th and then came the game winner as Eli Owens just has enough to get by Shouse for the score. Powell goes on to win 35-21 improving to 6-1, while Campbell County falls to 2-4.
