KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Riddell recently unveiled Peoria High School as its Team of the Future to celebrate the launch of the 2019 Smarter Football program. The Peoria High School Lions, known for their progressive approach to football, became one of the first high schools in the country completely outfitted with the latest in football head protection and smart helmet technologies.
The Lions go for it on fourth downs, always attempt two-point conversions, and try onside kicks on every kickoff. The team is also dedicated to preventing unnecessary player contact, limiting it in practices throughout the season.
Last year, Rogersville Middle School’s football team received the surprise of a lifetime when legendary NFL quarterback and former Tennessee Vol Peyton Manning surprised the team with new equipment as part of Riddell’s ’18 in 18’ Smarter Football program. You can see the surprise here.
Riddell, along with brand ambassador and strategic adviser Peyton Manning, will reward 10 exemplary football programs from around the country with new equipment. In addition, Peyton will be donating Riddell’s InSite impact monitoring technology to all winning programs.
Teams can apply at riddell.com/smarterfootball. The deadline for entries is July 8.
