Powell softball surveys damage after floods destroy field

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Powell softball coach Jeff Inman surveyed the damage to the softball filed on Monday after this weekend's heavy rain and flooding.

"I spoke with Dr.Smith this morning, he's already in contact with Knox County and seeing what we can claim and if we do have coverage in this or that. The County will step up and help as much as they can the community is already stepping up and offering whatever help they can give us so it'll get fixed it's just bad timing here at the beginning of our season" Inman said.

The flood damaged a new fence and a relatively new tarp for the field, which sits beside Beaver Creek in Powell. The team's storage shed also was flooded, damaging field maintenance equipment and supplies
