Pruitt: Charlotte won't be a "gimme game"

Some fans might think the Vols' homecoming game against Charlotte will be a breather for Tennessee football.

That, apparently, is not the case.

Coach Jeremy Pruitt addressed whether or not he had to tell players that Charlotte won't be a "gimme game."

"If somebody's looking at it that way, they're not ready to play," Pruitt said.

Pruitt said Tennessee (3-5, 1-4 SEC) will have to manufacture explosive plays and give max effort if it wants to accomplish what it wants against the 49ers (4-4, 3-2 CUSA).

"These guys have a better record than we do," Pruitt said of Charlotte. "They're better than us in every statistical category. They've got 85 guys on scholarship just like we do.

"We'll have to be at our best to give ourselves a chance to have success Saturday."
