Pruitt's search for new OC continues

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT)-- From December 17 to January 10, college football recruiting will be in a "Dead Period," one of four classifications of the NCAA's recruiting calendar.

At least for now, the Vols are approaching the end of that period without an offensive coordinator. Friday will be 40 days since the search for Tyson Helton's replacement began.

With former UT candidate Mike Yurcich being named Ohio State passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, the search continues for Jeremy Pruitt. So who might some of his new targets be?

Well Chris Low, our media partner from ESPN.com, tells WVLT Sports that Puitt has talked with Maryland Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada, now a member of Mike Locksley's Terrapins staff. Low says Pruitt has also reached out Steve Sarkisian, who worked with Pruitt on the Alabama staff. Sarkisian was recently fired as Atlanta Falcons Offensive Coordinator.

Jim Chaney, the former Vol assistant and current Georgia OC is another guy Pruitt is said to have interest in,but it's unknown if Chaney has any interest in leaving Georgia and returning to Knoxville.
Bottom line is coach Pruitt is still talking to different guys about the job and no timeline for a hire has been revealed.
