The Kansas City Chiefs have released VFL Eric Berry.
Berry, a safety, is a five-time pro bowler, however, he's been plagued with injuries recently.
“I’d like to thank Eric for his contributions to our team and the Kansas City community over the last nine years,” said Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, $7.25 million of Berry's contract would have become guaranteed, had he remained on the Chiefs' roster until this Friday.
Berry has played in 89 games with the Chiefs, accounting for 440 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 14 interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
