Rick and Rick: Vols head coach jumps into WVLT shot

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- WVLT News' sports director Rick Russo was on campus at the University of Tennessee on Wednesday, working hard and gearing up for the evening newscasts. While he was shooting a report on Tennessee football recruiting, he was 'ambushed' by a familiar face.

Russo was across the street from Thompson-Boling Arena when the Vols head coach Rick Barnes surprised him by jumping into the shot. He asked Russo about his foot injury.

"I felt bad for you, you know? Of all the guys, I hate that that would happen to you," Barnes said.

The head coach wasn't only concerned for Russo, though. He had a question for news anchor Amanda Hara, too.

"What would that have done to Amanda?" he asked.

"I have my answer prepared," Hara said during the 6 p.m. news. "I would've been out for six months, milking it for all it's worth."

"Rick Russo is a trooper," she continued, "he was back as soon as his surgery was over."
