MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WVLT) -- CAK won a state baseball championship on Thursday and the action heated up for the rest of the local teams on Friday.
The Greenback Cherokees won their first ever state title game in baseball on Friday, beating Trinity Christian, 2-1. The Cherokees thought their state title dreams were dashed when Trinity had a walk-off hit in the 7th inning to win the game, but officials ruled the runner never touched first base and was called out. The Cherokees went on to score in the top of the 9th inning and hold in the bottom of the ninth to win the title.
The Sevier County boys soccer team fell to Greeneville, 2-1 in the 2A state title game.
The Jefferson County softball team fell to Siegel, 10-2 on Friday, but later avenged that loss by beating Siegel in the final game to bring home the title.
Farragut baseball beat Bradley Central, 7-3 in the AAA state title game.
Bearden soccer beat Station Camp, 2-1 to claim the AAA soccer championship.
The King's Academy softball team topped Chattanooga Christian, 3-1 to win the D2, 1A state championship on Friday. The Loins finished with a 36-6 record.
