Why there's hope for the Vols

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Mistakes and poor execution on offense would certainly hurt the
Vols against 2nd ranked Georgia, but there were several positives to
come out of the loss to the Bulldogs.

Tennessee displayed a fighter's mentality not backing away from the challenge in the second half when all seemed lost. The emotion displayed by coach Pruitt after the game is an indication that the culture is starting to change within the program.

Tennessee's defense also continues to improve especially along the front line. UT's pass rush against Georgia was effective and that includes the emergence of Darrell Taylor, who had three sacks against the Dawgs, matching his career total.

After watching the Georgia game, it's evident the talent level for Tennessee is not quite there yet. The Vols are in desperate need of playmakers on offense. One guy who fits the bill is Ty Chandler, who took a short pass and turned it into a 35 yard TD play. That's exactly what the Vols need to be successful moving forward.

Also, the kicking game has been impressive led by Freshman punter Joe Doyle, who has been booming his kicks with regularity. Also Placekicker Brent Cimaglia has been solid on FG's and extra points while Paxton brooks has been efficient on kickoffs.
