"Kellie will do really well because she's strong, she has an opinion. She's made a statement, and she is Kellie Jolly Harper," said a fan, Donna, at a rally the city held for Harper on June 6 at White County High School

Fans lined up to take pictures and get autographs from Harper on the court she played on not so very long ago.

The man she played for, Coach Steve Holland, was on hand, too. "She was almost like she is now, to be honest with you, she hasn't changed that much. She was a coach on the floor. She was a girl that knew where the ball had to go," Holland said.

Harper was awared the official proclamation for her special days as well as the key to Sparta.

"If you’re just thinking that I’m from a small town and I can’t do anything outside of here, you’re wrong and I just want them to know this is a great place to grow up and you can provide a platform to move on to whatever your dream is if it’s here or if it somewhere else," Harper told WVLT News.

The Director of Schools in White County had another surprise for Harper. The elementary school will have its gym floor named after her.
