(WTVF) -- After suffering a near catastrophic injury, Tennessee State football player Christion Abercombie visited his alma mater in Georgia.
Abercrombie suffered a severe head injury during a game in September. After life saving surgery, Abercrombie underwent rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center near his family's home in Atlanta.
Abercrombie and his family were honored at Westlake High School where the TSU athlete graduated. The students presented him with a plaque and declared it "Christion Abercrombie Day."
Christion begins outpatient therapy next week.
